Just working a wedding and the client didn’t arrange dinner for us so
have to pop down to the loby coffee shop for a quick bite. My hk$260
hamburger just arrived. It looks pretty tasty and since it is costing
my left nut… It had better be… Holy expensive hamburger…
UGH what a pile of shite that was… one of the worst bloody hamburgers I have ever eaten. Greasy and no flavour. Just meat, prepared without any thought to seasoning, in a bun, with lettuce and tomato and a basket of fries… I can say one thing, it all looked fancy, but the taste was shite… very dissapointed and with the bill coming to a grand total of HK$275 also very pissed off. So next time you are staying at the InterCon in TST and feel like having a Hamburger best to head to MacDonalds across the way, it tastes better and you will have saved $255..

One of our favorite places for “businessmans lunch” my best friend and I often meet here for lunch on Friday. The buffet is wicked. More than 25 dishes, I don’t remember most of their names, but they are all very good and you can eat as much as you wish. Friday is the best as they do “leg of Lamb” umm…
Just make sure you leave some room for desert as the GULAB is divine as is the Creme Caramel…
$120 a head … Well worth the effort.
We just had our home made vegitarian fajitas. Basically this is the recipe. Take two onions, cut them up into coins. Thrown them in the pan and fry to golden crispy. Add two green pepers, and chopped mushrooms once the onions are done, little cherry tomatoes if you like. Grate some old chedar cheese, light sour cream, Tabasco, refried beans all wrapped up in a flour tortilla. Um, very tasty and very healthy. We had them today and yesterday.
Tomorrow I will write something about photography, promise.
I know I know, but I love my food…
Life, Bobsy and Mariane’s vegetarian health food cafe/deli and restaurant on the escalator across from Taco Loco just below Staunton St. (Life
10 Shelley Street Soho Tel 2810 9777) I never thought I would say this, but this is damn fine food and well worth the effort. It is all sutably “organic”, completely veggie and very very very delicious. Suggestions: The Pizza with a side of zata sauce as it can be a bit dry. The ZATA dish with some kind of cheese that is not cheese, just too yummy. If your really hungry the lasagne is divine as is the Potato wedges with tofunaise (a tofu based Mayo – so good). The shakes are yummy too, the one I like being the B-Shake, formely know as a Bobsy shake in another far far away place called Lamma… Yes we have all grown up and LIFE tastes good!
Just one comment, it ain’t cheep… I will be sending this post to my good friend Bobsy and let him comment on why the heafty $$ for what is otherwise garden weeds HA HA! – very tasty garden weeds mind you. For the budget conscious LIFE can be tough.
Life doubles as a community center with regular “special” nights where they hold discussions or screen documentary movies…
Oh I forgot to mention, they have this thing called the LIFE MENU, some of the dishes on the menu they give 10% to a charity. Last year they gave $35,000 to Child Welfare Scheme/Nepal and this year they gave ___(bobsy fill in here)_______
So LIFE…YES!… get a…
Ah yes the american classic SUBWAY has arrived in Hong Kong. But there are only two. One is in Discovery Bay and maybe one of the only reasons to live there, the other is in Wan Chai, Lockhart Road, just down the road from Jo Banana’s. 12″ tuna with lots of green peppers and onions, hold the dressing, salt and pepper… oh yes. I am just waiting for them to open in Central.
$10 noodles, well they are now $11… “Wan Ton Mein” on the corner of Wellington just next to the escalator. These are a classic Hong Kong treat. Big juicy prawn won ton with fresh rice noodle. Tasty and cheap. If you plan on going at lunch time, there is usually a line…
